Cold Calling Techniques from Personal Experience.
Posted on July 30th, 2009 3 commentsCold Calling Tips from Personal Experience.
Cold calling is something that most of us hate it. Calling someone you don’t know and then ask them to buy your solution.
However, if you want to
have grow your business, you cannot runaway from Cold Calling. Most of my sales were closed from Cold Calling. Not from Adword !
I made a lot of blunders making cold calling.
Sometimes, just called and try to sell the software direct to the prospect. The prospect would be wondering who is this guy I am talking to too.
So, if you are new in Sales. Then I believe the following tips will help.
First of all, you need to know your product details very well. Your product knowledge will help you to talk confidently.
If you are new selling that product, before you call, please print a hard copy of your product details, which you could easily refer to if your client ask a question.
Important product knowledge that you should know.
1.Product Features
2.Product Benefit. Why your prospect should buy your service.
3.Customer Supports details.
4.Product Pricing.Once you have prepared yourself, your first call is actually to jump start you sales process.
Based on my experience, it is very seldom I can close a sales in first call. I need to follow up with the prospect few times by call & direct meeting to close the deal.
Whenever you’re selling your product, always try to talk with the main key decision maker who will purchase your product.
If it is the General Manager, then it is better you contact him direct.
If you contact their Sales Executive and expect him to convince his GM to buy your product, then most probably it will take ions for you to close the sales.
Please remember normally the key decision maker might be busy.
So, I will make cold calling as follows.
1. Introduce my name & my company. Ask the prospect whether I can talk with him or I might call him back another time. You don’t want to push your product while he is in the meeting with his staff or while he is driving.
2. If he says he is free, then only I will continue talking with him.
3. I will inform the key benefits of my product.
4. How I can send my product details to the client. Normally I will ask my client email address and send the relevant information.
5. When I can call him back.So from there I will follow up with the prospect. My second call, we will discuss longer about the product.
